2025 L.A. Whip Conference Canceled

MINNEAPOLIS - eMusicWire -- The wild fires which devastated Los Angeles ended prospects for an exciting weekend of whip cracking in its eighth year.

Organizers Dakota and Adam Winrich are already planning next year's get together (which will be in Las Vegas), but the news did not come soon enough for Witchcraft Whips' Johnny Öhgren of Sweden, who traveled halfway around the world. Further, Keanu Shimaoka traveled from Hawaii, and Chris Wright came down from Canada.

"The tragedy of the fires here is heart breaking," Adam says. "For the people that are already here, we're staying safe and having some small social gatherings so we can still experience some of the camaraderie that has always been the most important part of the whip conventions in Los Angeles."
Whip makers and bullwhip artists like April Jennifer Choi are donating whips to help defray expenses to LA firefighters.

April Jennifer Choi, the multiple Guinness World Record holder, announced she is donating 23 whips from her collection to help defray expenses for firefighter and relief organizations in the wake of the devastating Los Angeles fires.

White North Stockwhips are valued at $420 a pair. Other single paracord whips are available for as little as $100.00 each.

"Profits will be donated to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation https://supportlafd.kindful.com/?campaign=1040812," Choi said. "Or Profits will be donated to After the Fire USA, a wildfire recovery and resiliency organization overseen by the Rebuild NorthBay Foundation, a wildland management program, at  https://afterthefireusa.org/."

Additionally Dakota Winrich's Dakitty Whips is donating two pairs of stockwhips.
