Brisbane, Australia artist, Paula Prentice, garnered a top award in Art and Color 365 Magazine's international portrait art competition.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - eMusicWire -- Paula Prentice, a self-taught pencil artist from Brisbane, Australia, has been announced as the 3rd Place winner of Art and Color 365 Magazine's International Portrait Art Competition. Art and Color 365 is a new magazine that celebrates art in every aspect of life and holds monthly international art competitions.
Prentice's winning entry (left), "Self Portrait," is a 28x22 cm graphite pencil self portrait. The drawing showcases Prentice's ability to convey deep emotion through the
close-up depiction of a face.
"Faces intrigue me," Prentice says. "We look at a face and see ourselves somehow reflected there. That recognition creates a connection that goes beyond space and time. My self-portraits are my way of communicating with the world and with myself."
