RICHMOND, Va. - eMusicWire -- The Brain Injury Association of Virginia (BIAV) has announced David DeBiasi as their new Executive Director. BIAV is the preeminent advocacy organization for people impacted by brain injuries in Virginia.
DeBiasi has most recently served as the Associate State Director of Advocacy and Outreach at AARP Virginia for 12 years. He has over 20 years of nonprofit experience in Virginia.
"Mr. DeBiasi's background combined with a deep passion for helping those in need will help to further advance the mission of BIAV. We are excited to welcome David as our new Executive Director," says Bryan L. Meadows, Brain Injury Association of Virginia Board of Directors President. "He will bring experience, enthusiasm, and great communication skills to our organization. We feel very lucky to have found him and look forward to continuing our advocacy for the rights of individuals impacted by brain injuries."

The five pillars of BIAV are education, outreach, support, public awareness, and advocacy; BIAV served more than 22,000 Virginians in 2022 through their programming. As Executive Director, DeBiasi will be responsible for creating partnerships and relationships with the community. His duties include staff and operational management, strategic planning, and development.
"I cared for individuals with brain injury early in my career as a nurse. BIAV plays such a key role in improving the quality of life for Virginians affected by brain injury. I am thrilled to lead the Association in being a source of help, hope, and healing for the community we serve," DeBiasi said.
He begins this new position on January 23.
The BIAV has been led by Anne McDonnell since 2006.
"We are so incredibly grateful for Anne's 22 years as Executive Director. We are very thankful for her leadership and guidance of BIAV," said Meadows.
