FREDERICK, Md. - eMusicWire -- The 2025 Frederick Speaker Series launches with a captivating evening featuring Dr. Robert Ballard, one of the most renowned ocean explorers and scientists of our time. Dr. Ballard will take the stage at the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 7:30 PM, to share his groundbreaking discoveries and inspire audiences with his incredible journey of deep-sea exploration.
Tickets start at $50 and may be purchased online at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling the box office at 301-600-2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick Street. Discounts are available for students, children, military, and seniors.
Dr. Ballard, best known for his 1985 discovery of the RMS Titanic, has led over 165 deep-sea expeditions, uncovering historic shipwrecks such as the German battleship Bismarck, John F. Kennedy's PT-109, and the U.S. aircraft carrier Yorktown. In addition to these significant finds, he has made groundbreaking natural discoveries like hydrothermal vents and "black smokers" on the ocean floor. Through stunning imagery and compelling personal accounts, his talk, "Adventures in Deep Sea Exploration: Living the Dream," will explore his latest work in deep-water archaeology and telepresence technology, his philosophy on overcoming failure, and his mission to inspire future generations to pursue STEM careers.
