Deep Sea Explorer Dr. Robert Ballard Kicks Off the 2025 Frederick Speaker Series

FREDERICK, Md. - eMusicWire -- The 2025 Frederick Speaker Series launches with a captivating evening featuring Dr. Robert Ballard, one of the most renowned ocean explorers and scientists of our time. Dr. Ballard will take the stage at the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 7:30 PM, to share his groundbreaking discoveries and inspire audiences with his incredible journey of deep-sea exploration.

Dr. Ballard, best known for his 1985 discovery of the RMS Titanic, has led over 165 deep-sea expeditions, uncovering historic shipwrecks such as the German battleship Bismarck, John F. Kennedy's PT-109, and the U.S. aircraft carrier Yorktown. In addition to these significant finds, he has made groundbreaking natural discoveries like hydrothermal vents and "black smokers" on the ocean floor. Through stunning imagery and compelling personal accounts, his talk, "Adventures in Deep Sea Exploration: Living the Dream," will explore his latest work in deep-water archaeology and telepresence technology, his philosophy on overcoming failure, and his mission to inspire future generations to pursue STEM careers.

Dr. Ballard's illustrious career includes service as Founder and President of the Ocean Exploration Trust, Professor of Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island, and Explorer-At-Large for the National Geographic Society.
