Derrick M. Eason, Painter, Sculptor, Designer, Illustrator, Animator, Writer Remembering Kobe Bryant On His Passing
LOS ANGELES - eMusicWire -- Derrick M. Eason felt it was important to honor and remember Kobe Bryant on his birthday because of the profound impact Kobe had on him as an artist and a person. Kobe's relentless work ethic, passion, and "Mamba Mentality" were constant sources of inspiration for Derrick, fueling his drive to push boundaries and pursue excellence in his craft.
For Derrick, Kobe represented more than just an extraordinary athlete—he was a creative visionary who valued storytelling, artistry, and self-expression. Kobe's transition from the basketball court to creative pursuits like writing and filmmaking resonated with Derrick, showing him that it's possible to channel the same determination into multiple art forms.
Creating the tribute piece "Dear Kobe" was Derrick's way of celebrating Kobe's legacy while reflecting on his own journey as an artist. It is also a reminder to others of the lasting impact Kobe left on the world and the inspiration he continues to provide to those striving to make their own mark. For Derrick, sharing his birthday with the memory of Kobe's passing was not just a coincidence—it was a meaningful moment to celebrate life, legacy, and the power of creativity.

About Derrick-
Derrick M. Eason, born in Suffolk, Virginia, grew up as a military brat, moving across multiple states due to his father's U.S. Air Force service. He studied art at Saint Augustine's University, an HBCU, where he met and married his wife, but left in his junior year to pursue animation during the rise of computer graphics. Although finding work in a saturated market proved challenging, Derrick steadily built his reputation as an artist through commissions and social media networking, leading to collaborations with wrestling promotions, TV shows, and other creative projects. A diagnosis of an inoperable but non-life-threatening pituitary tumor a decade ago, coupled with the end of his marriage, pushed Derrick to fully dedicate himself to his art. As a writer, painter, sculptor, and creator, he has embraced his journey and is committed to achieving his goals through his craft, relying on his talent and determination to pave the way forward.
