Although finding work in a saturated market proved challenging, Derrick steadily built his reputation as an artist through commissions and social media networking, leading to collaborations with wrestling promotions, TV shows, and other creative projects. A diagnosis of an inoperable but non-life-threatening pituitary tumor a decade ago, coupled with the end of his marriage, pushed Derrick to fully dedicate himself to his art.
