In celebration of its streaming debut, a special red-carpet screening was held in Hoonah on June 21, bringing together community members, featured artists and partners to celebrate the film's official premiere. Gervois and Bois attended the special screening with a warm welcome from the community. During the event and in keeping with the Tlingit tradition of welcoming guests to return, Huna Totem Corporation president and CEO Russell Dick presented them with a ceremonial paddle in recognition of this significant contribution to Alaska's cultural story.
"It is an honor to have our story shared with the world through this extraordinary film and to witness our artists being recognized for their talent and contributions," said Dick. "This documentary offers an authentic view into the strength and creativity of our communities and supports our mission of preserving and advancing our Tlingit culture."
"The Story of Art in Alaska" has garnered recognition across the festival circuit, earning wins at the New York Independent Cinema Awards (2025), the Atlanta Cinema Awards (2025) and at the Hawaii International Film Awards (2025).

"Storytelling is a powerful way to foster cultural understanding and appreciation," said Gervois. "This film reflects the incredible depth of artistic expression in Alaska and shares voices that deserve to be heard far beyond the region."
This project continues the work of Legit Productions, whose ongoing docuseries "The Story of Art in America", created by Bois, has spotlighted artistic communities in cities and counties across the United States. With the release of "The Story of Art in Alaska," the production team brings fresh attention to the nation's largest state.
"I have at heart to invite the people to rediscover America through the eyes of its artists — to tell untold stories and to amplify voices from outside the spotlight," said Bois.
