Seminole County Legal Aid Increases Focus on Tenant Rights and Housing Stability

SANFORD, Fla. - eMusicWire -- Sanford, FL – As temperatures rise and summer storms bring increased risks of housing-related issues like broken air conditioning, mold, and unsafe living conditions, Seminole County Legal Aid (SCLA) is working to ensure that local renters know where to turn for help.

Though housing has long been a key area of service for SCLA, this summer the organization is shining a brighter spotlight on its free legal assistance for renters; making sure tenants are protected, informed, and supported when it matters most.

Whether you're facing eviction, struggling to get necessary repairs addressed, or having issues with your security deposit, SCLA is here to help.

Located inside the Seminole County Civil Courthouse in downtown Sanford, our Housing Office provides in-person support. But help is also just a phone call away—Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

We provide free legal aid to eligible low-income renters in Seminole County in areas such as:
  • Evictions
  • Maintenance and repair disputes
  • Security deposit problems

"Summer months can highlight unsafe housing conditions," says Shannon Smythe, SCLA Staff Attorney and. "Many renters aren't aware of their legal rights when housing issues arise. Our team is here to provide clarity, resources, and real solutions."
