Local dance studio announces a sensory friendly holiday performance

KENT, Wash. - eMusicWire -- Allegro is presenting its 29th Annual Holiday showcases at Auburn Performing Arts Center this coming December.  It has been a tradition for our academy and for our community as a way to enjoy the festivities of the holidays!   For the third time ever, this local dance and performing arts academy is thrilled to announce that one of these performances will be designated for anyone in the community that would benefit from a sensory friendly performance.

The sensory friendly show will take place on Saturday December 21st at 1:30PM at Auburn Performing Arts Center.   Tickets are at a low price of $10 minimum donation.  Registration link is below.

Many adults and children who are on the autism spectrum, are neurodiverse,  have developmental and/or cognitive disabilities are not able to enjoy live performances.  The need for these types of performances is in great demand as many families cannot experience together the benefit of live performing arts.   We want to help to provide this to our community and to allow everyone to celebrate the holidays in a fun and festive way.

This year's holiday showcase is called 'All Wrapped Up.'  It's a script written especially for Allegro that features Amellia Bedelia and her holiday adventures trying to find the perfect gift.  Our Allegro Players drama group are the main characters that take us through the story while the dance performances support the story through song and movement!

The sensory friendly showcase modifications will include: Modifications will include: Lower sound level in the audience, elimination of starling or loud sounds, lights in the audience will be raised slightly, the audience is a 'shush-free' zone and there will be a calming area in the lobby for those that need a break from the show as well.

Allegro is proud to be offering this type of performance and we plan to make it a consistent part of our future holiday performances for years to come.  We would love the help of the public to share this event with people in our community that would appreciate this show.  We want performance art to be accessible to all!
