Mental Health Mondays with Marla and Dave Co-host hosted open conversation about mental illness and collected dozens of donations for Anne Douglas Women's Center
LOS ANGELES - eMusicWire -- Marla and Dave Thomas are mental health advocates and activists dedicated to combating the stigma of mental illness. This past Sunday, April 24, 2022, Marla hosted a "Snack & Chat" event to encourage open conversations about mental health and illness. It was a wonderful opportunity to share information, resources, ask questions, get advice, and take a step forward in the fight against the stigma of mental illness. Licensed therapist Doug Green, a guest on MENTAL HEALTH MONDAYS with Marla and Dave, was on hand to lend support.
As Marla, a celebrity realtor, has said: "The battle against any stigma starts with an open and honest conversation. The more we talk about something without shame, the less of a hold stigma has on that subject. So talk! You are not alone. There is no shame in any illness or seeking care or support."
This free event, which was held at the Hjelte Sports Center, even caught the attention of Team LA Rugby, who joined in after their practice.

"I wish I could have been there," said Dave, a ten-time Grammy-winner, from the TAKE6 tour in Germany. "To hear how people took part and became part of the conversation about mental health and mental illness is really heartwarming and bolstering - we're doing the right thing."
This "Snack & Chat" was also an opportunity for MENTAL HEALTH MONDAYS with Marla and Dave to support the Anne Douglas Center for Women at the LA Mission. Marla collected dozens of donations, including women's undergarments, loungewear, and hygiene products. Both Marla and Dave feel it is important to give back to the community.
MENTAL HEALTH MONDAYS with Marla and Dave is a weekly, half-hour podcast on the UBNGo Network, which provides a platform for sharing information, resources, and stories from those who are dealing with and overcoming the challenges of a mental illness. The podcast is available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/c/MentalHealthMondays and on all major podcast platforms.
