Holiday performances planned in Plymouth, Northville and Brighton
PLYMOUTH, Mich. - eMusicWire -- The joyous sounds of holiday music will ring out in several metro communities as Michigan's largest regional symphony orchestra, the Michigan Philharmonic, offers up a series of concerts in December.
Led by Nan Washburn, now in her 25th season as conductor and music director, the Philharmonic will perform in Plymouth, Northville and Brighton in December, offering a wide array of holiday pops, classical and other celebratory seasonal music. The Phil's youth orchestra will also host a concert.
A longtime community tradition, the Michigan Phil's annual "Holiday Pops with the Phil" concert includes two performances at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 at the First United Methodist Church on North Territorial in Plymouth.
Then on Friday, Dec. 8 the Philharmonic will return to the Marquis Theater in downtown Northville for a holiday pops concert at 7:30 p.m. Limited tickets are still available at michiganphil.org (https://www.michiganphil.org/).

The Michigan Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) will host its annual Winter Concert on Tuesday Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. Join the five youth ensembles for a special holiday show at Plymouth's PARC center. Tickets are only $15 and $5.
Lastly, the full Philharmonic will journey to Brighton to perform on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts.
During the concerts in Plymouth, Northville and Brighton, Philharmonic violist Jessica Lipton will be featured. Among the holiday pieces spotlighted will be "American Folk Christmas Suite" arranged by Bill Holcombe, "A Charlie Brown Christmas" by Vince Guaraldi, "Passacaglia" by Rebecca Clarke, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" by Albert Hauge, "The Eighth Candle: Prayer and Dane for Hanukkah" by Steve Reisteter, "The Polar Express Suite" by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, "Silver Bells" and "Jingle Bells Forever" by J. Pierpont and J.P. Sousa. A sing-along will wrap up the 8 p.m. performance in Plymouth.
