With a watercolor entry, Janine Helton of St. Charles, Missouri, took home the top prize in Art and Color 365 Magazine's Portrait Art Competition
ST. LOUIS - eMusicWire -- Janine Helton, a watercolor artist from St. Charles, Missouri, has been announced as the winner of Art and Color 365 Magazine's International Portrait Art Competition. Art and Color 365 is a new magazine that celebrates art in every aspect of life and holds monthly international art competitions.
Helton's winning entry, "Everything Nice," is a 14" x 12" watercolor portrait of a young woman with light streaming in from a window and a purple and blue background. The painting showcases Helton's ability to contract loose and expressive brushwork with more precise details in a person's expression, hair, and clothing.
Helton's work has been recognized in watercolor competitions locally, nationally, and internationally. She is a "Best of Missouri Hands" juried artist and a Signature Member of several watercolor societies including the Saint Louis Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, the Northwest Watercolor Society, the Missouri Watercolor Society, the Illinois Watercolor Society, and the Georgia Watercolor Society.
