Dallas' premier all-volunteer community orchestra presents six FREE performances exploring nature, tradition, spirituality, and community.

DALLAS - eMusicWire -- The New Texas Symphony Orchestra, the Premiere all-volunteer community orchestra of Dallas, announces its 2026–2027 season, "Roots." Led by Artistic Director and Conductor Dr. Michelle Perrin Blair, Season 23 will explore the natural, cultural, and spiritual forces that nourish, ground, and connect people and communities.

More than 80 accomplished volunteer musicians will perform three full-orchestra concerts at Moody Performance Hall, two Holiday Gathering concerts across Dallas, and an intimate chamber season finale. Every NTSO event is presented FREE for ALL.

"My grandmother always told me, 'Always come back to your roots,'" Blair said. "Roots are those tangible and intangible things that connect us, bind us, center us, and ground us."

Season 23 opens with Nature at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, at Moody Performance Hall. Featuring guest composer Lisa Neher, the program pairs Neher's Twister and Takashi Yoshimatsu's And Birds Are Still with Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, "Pastoral."

Holiday Gathering brings festive orchestral music to the community with performances at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, at NorthPark Center and at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at The Shops at RedBird. The concerts celebrate the traditions, memories, and shared experiences that connect Dallas communities.

Tradition, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2027, features pianist James Palmer performing Cécile Chaminade's Konzertstück. The program also includes music by Jerry Bock, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Gabriela Lena Frank.

Spiritual, at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16, features baritone James Rodriguez in Carlisle Floyd's Pilgrimage, alongside works by Giovanni Gabrieli, Christopher Theofanidis, and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.

The season concludes with Chamber Connections at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 20. The intimate performance will highlight the relationships among musicians, music, and community. Program and location details will be announced.

All full-orchestra concerts will take place at Moody Performance Hall, 2520 Flora St., in the Dallas Arts District. Admission is free. Reservations and additional information will be available at ntso.org/concerts.
