Singer / Songwriter Gavyn Bernhardt and his Producer brother Owen Bernhardt recently released their first single, with more music on the horizon
PHILADELPHIA - eMusicWire -- 19 year old Gavyn Bernhardt has been a musician his entire life. Singing for longer than he can remember, he started piano lessons at age 4, picked up a guitar at age 8 then proceeded to learn bass, ukulele, banjo and mandolin after being handed down his great-grandfather's 100+ year old Gibson. He is not the only musician in the family. His brother Owen (16), a mulit-instrumentalist (drums, bass, guitar, piano, cello), is also an up-and-coming producer. With all of these skills under one roof, it is natural that this would all lead to writing and producing music together.
Their first single "Dead Sound on the Radio" is a moving rock anthem that speaks to the turbulent times we are living in. The song calls out the digital age and the isolation it creates with a soulful cry. It is the song we need right now that gives voice to the frustrations of living in this time. Gavyn began writing it after reading a story about a gaming company that fired its entire art staff and replaced them with AI. AI art and music are quickly becoming commonplace, but to artists like Gavyn and Owen, this is a real threat to their and many other artists' livelihoods.

"It is important that we don't lose touch with the fact that art and music are two of the most important things that make us human" says Gavyn. "I wrote this song as a protest to call out how technology, and AI in particular, is isolating us from each other and from our own humanity and creativity."
Owen was able to perfectly capture Gavyn's vision for this song in a way that speaks to the heartache and urgency many young people feel around how technology and society are driving us apart. Recorded, mixed and mastered in their self-built basement studio, everything you hear on the recording was created at home and every instrument was played by Gavyn and Owen.
"Dead Sound on the Radio" can currently be streamed on all major streaming platforms, but what is next for these two young artists?
"There are more singles on the horizon," says Gavyn, "and we are working toward an EP that will be out in 2026. It will address the themes of isolation, commercialization, and fear. Having lived a good portion of my life through a global pandemic, daily violence in the news and so much political turmoil, I have a lot of things I want to talk about and express through my music that I think many people can relate to."
