Performances planned in cities of Plymouth, Brighton and Taylor
PLYMOUTH, Mich. - eMusicWire -- Young and old alike in several metro communities can enjoy joyous holiday music thanks to Michigan's largest regional symphony orchestra, the Michigan Philharmonic. (https://www.michiganphil.org/)
Led by longtime conductor Nan Washburn, the Philharmonic will perform in Plymouth, Brighton and Taylor during the month of December, offering a wide array of holiday pops, classical and other celebratory seasonal music.
A longtime community tradition, the Michigan Phil's annual "Holiday Pops with the Phil" concert will include two performances at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8 in Plymouth's historic Penn Theatre (760 Penniman Ave., Plymouth). Limited tickets are still available at michiganphil.org.
Then on Saturday, Dec. 10, the Philharmonic will travel to Brighton Center for Performing Arts for a holiday pops concert at 7:30 p.m. Lastly, the Phil journeys to Taylor on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. for a performance in the Prechter Center for Performing Arts at Wayne County Community College.

During both of the concerts in Plymouth and Brighton, Philharmonic trombonists Brooks Barnes and George Troia, Jr. will be featured performing on Frantisek Tuma's "Sonata in E minor for 2 Trombones and Strings." The duo will also be featured on "Home for the Holidays" by Al Stillman & Robert Allen
Other holiday pieces will include "Christmas Rocks at the Pops" arranged by Ralph Ford; "Around the World at Christmas Time" arranged by Bruce Chase; "Chanukah Festival Overture" arranged by Calvin Custer; "Christmas on Broadway" arranged by John Higgins; "Brazilian Sleigh Bells" by Percy Faith; "A Home Alone Christmas" by John Williams; "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra; "Jingle Bells Forever" by J. Pierpont and J.P. Sousa; and "Let it Snow" by Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn.
A sing-along of George Frederick Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" will wrap up the 8 p.m. performance in Plymouth. "Let it Snow" will also give the audience a chance to sing along.
All of the Philharmonic's concerts are subject to time and date changes as well as health restrictions already in place at the venues listed.
