Americana Artist E.G. Phillips Says It is "Fake News" That His New Song "Her Love's So Hard" Has Anything to Do Whatsoever With the Infamous Pop Star
SAN FRANCISCO - eMusicWire -- For the second single of upcoming EP, songwriter E.G. Phillips offers a primarily guitar driven ballad. The rhythm of this lead undulates and modulates, at times with a sense of delicacy, other times galloping along at a speedy clip as we ride different waves of emotion that overcome our narrator.
"I played this song once at an open mic and the songwriter who preceded me performed a song he calls 'Taylor Swift' which I can only characterize as a blatant attempt to piggyback on Ms. Swift's stardom." Phillips explains. "This led me to quip that my song was also about Taylor Swift."
Phillips has been fighting the rumors ever since.
The song is a portrait of a woman who puts everything into her relationships, to her own detriment and the sacrifice of her own personal autonomy. But our narrator is not some detached third party — clearly feeling great sympathy for the protagonist he's sketching out for us, as well as some personal disappointment

In addition to producer Kenny Schick's guitar, there's some sweet and romantic violin work by Amberly Rosen as well ArtemesiaBlack on backing vocals. And yes, that's a reference to Batman '89 in the chorus.
Songwriter E.G. Phillips comes from a country called the Midwest. He creates lyric driven songs with his own special blend of whimsy and cinematic imagery which he uses to give a wry take on dealing with the longings of the heart and the madness of existence. You could call his music jazz-infused alternative Americana — "Bob Dylan with flatted fifths" or "lounge music that falls somewhere between Tom Waits and They Might Be Giants."
"Ducks With Pants" is the name of his fake band.
"Her Love's So Hard" will be available on all major streaming platforms on October 23rd.
