Follow-up to acclaimed first volume slated for September 15, 2023 release
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - eMusicWire -- GRAMMY® nominee Teresa James and her band, The Rhythm Tramps, announce the second volume of Rose-Colored Glasses, a continuation on the themes of love and hope which emerged in fifty song concepts first developed by James and her husband and producer, Terry Wilson, during the pandemic. In addition to being awarded two silver medals from the Global Music Awards and a Libera Award nomination for Best Blues Record, James also received her second Blues Music Award nomination (Contemporary Blues Female Artist) following the release of Volume One.
For Volume Two, Wilson dipped into their treasure trove of songs and developed this selection with the addition of horns to provide more of a soul blues approach to the music. This time, without the use of guest guitarists, all guitar parts were handled by Rhythm Tramps' guitarist Billy Watts and Terry Wilson, who focused on motifs and hooks. Kevin McKendree brought his keyboard excellence to the project, as well. The warm, familiar vocals of James lead each tune with skillful depth and expression. Wilson notes, "So many times I thought I'd be finished with a tune, and then Teresa would come in, hear it, and teach me how it should be done, especially melodically and dynamically." The icing on the cake for the project was a trip to Malmsbury, England where James and Wilson had the opportunity to visit with and learn from their friend, GRAMMY®winning producer and engineer, John Porter, while he completed the mixing and mastering of the album.

"When I first worked with Teresa and Terry on Volume One, I quickly discovered just how special they both are, individually but also collectively as partners in music and in life," says Blue Heart Records partner, Sallie Bengtson. "The sum is most definitely greater than the parts, as their recordings exemplify, and it is truly a pleasure to share their music and their accomplishments with the music community."
"I am very excited about this new record! I am so lucky to have again teamed up with Terry Wilson - an amazing producer, player, and songwriter - who has really outdone himself this time," says James. "The inspiration for a lot of these songs started during the pandemic, but they have grown into a collection of upbeat and soulful tunes that, I think, offer a hopeful look at where we are headed from here."
Album preorders will begin August 18, 2023. Plans are underway for a limited-edition, numbered double-vinyl album of volumes one and two, to become available at a future date.
