FORT MYERS, Fla. - eMusicWire -- The Lee County Black History Society is hosting the 11th Annual Holiday in the Park starting with Movie in the Park, Dec. 1, and Holiday in the Park, with a free parade and community tree lighting, Dec. 2. Both events are at Roberto Clemente Park, 1936 Henderson Ave. in Fort Myers.
"Experience the magic of unity and festive cheer as our community comes alive with the Soulful Lights and Shining Stars theme, celebrating diversity and togetherness," said Lee County Black History Society Executive Director Autumn Watkins Holloway. "This annual celebration is a joyous gathering that unites our community, nurturing a feeling of togetherness and pride to commence the holiday season. The event, which is free for all, promises an unforgettable day of connection and joy for families and friends alike."

Movie in the Park will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 1 with an outdoor screening and same-day premiere of Prime Video's holiday comedy "Candy Cane Lane," featuring Eddie Murphy (rated PG). The event is free, with complementary snacks available. Guests should bring chairs or blankets for seating.
Holiday in the Park will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Roberto Clemente Park. With the theme "Soulful Lights and Shining Stars," the free community event includes food trucks, live entertainment, the Soul Santa Parade, community tree lighting, tours of the Williams Academy Black History Museum, bounce houses, toy giveaway, vendors and more. Soul Santa & Elves Fire Truck Parade line up starts at 3:15 p.m., with the tree lighting at 6 p.m.
