FALL RIVER, Mass. - eMusicWire -- Bristol Black Collective is thrilled to announce a momentous event that will honor the legacy of Frederick Douglass, one of the greatest abolitionists and advocates for civil rights in history. We invite the community to join us in a special reading of Douglass' powerful speech, which will bring his words to life and inspire us all to continue the fight for justice and equality.
"Reading Frederick Douglass Together," will take place on June 17 at 1pm during the Fall River Juneteenth Festival at Kennedy Pavilion Park. This gathering aims to commemorate Douglass' invaluable contributions to the progress of our society, while highlighting the relevance and significance of his words in today's world. The event is free and open to the public.
Frederick Douglass' speech, delivered during a pivotal era of our nation's history, encapsulates the struggle for freedom and human dignity. The speech was first delivered in 1852, in Corinthian Hall, Rochester, New York to the Ladies' Anti-Slavery Society. By participating in this reading, attendees will have the opportunity to lend their voices and become part of a historic moment that celebrates unity, empathy, and progress.
