Victoria Carson addresses her inspiration for two of today's most touching songs of our time speaking justice for injustice crimes.
LOS ANGELES - eMusicWire -- Interviewer: Victoria, thank you for joining us. Your recent works, "A Song for Kendrick" and "Echoes of Justice," have captivated many. Can you tell us what inspired these pieces?
Victoria Carson: Thank you for having me. "A Song for Kendrick" was inspired by Montice Harmon's profound impact on me and his dedication to social justice through his music wroting skills. I wanted to pay homage to Kendrick Johnson and continue saying his name so the world doesnt forget what was done to him. I wanted to explore themes of change and resilience. "Echoes of Justice" came from a desire to voice the ongoing struggles for equality and the importance of collective action in creating a better future making sure what happened to Emmett Till and Kendrick Johnson never happens again. How dare people not care about what happened to Kendrick Johnson?
