June 24, 2024: The National Conference on Community and Restorative Justice is set to convene from July 29 to August 1, 2024, at the Downtown Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C. This year's event marks the 9th gathering of the biennial conference and is expected to attract a record-breaking 1,800 attendees, an extraordinary milestone in the conference's seventeen-year history.
Since its inception in 2007, the conference has seen remarkable growth, expanding from 183 participants in its first year to 1,707 attendees in 2022. The increasing participation reflects a burgeoning global interest in community and restorative justice, with last year's conference drawing individuals from 49 states and 9 countries. Under the theme "Re-visioning our Legacies: A Defining Moment," the conference aims to be a pivotal gathering in the restorative justice movement. This theme underscores the critical juncture at which we find ourselves in promoting and embedding community and restorative justice principles not only within our communities and society at large, but also within our own personal lives and families.
