Media Collaboration Aims to Create a New Worldwide Hub for Blues Music in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS - eMusicWire -- St. Louis-based Phat Buddha Productions and Knox Entertainment have just inked a deal that aims to revive the great legacy of blues music in the Gateway city. Phat Buddha Productions, which is the premier recording studio in St. Louis, will provide production, marketing, and media resources for Knox Entertainment's top blues talents of today and tomorrow, starting with local blues master Marquise Knox.
Knox is a "throwback blues master on the rise" whose beyond-his-years talents have earned him performing rights with some of America's most notable blues musicians, including the legendary B.B. King, Pinetop Perkins, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, and Sam Lay. The late, great, Grammy-winning St. Louis blues legend Henry James Townsend took Knox under his wing in his early teenage years, mentoring Knox in guitar playing, songwriting, and the roots of the blues. When Townsend passed away in 2006 Knox became even closer friends with Townsend's son, Alonzo. In 2013 after leaving his previous management, Knox formed Knox Entertainment LLC. With the release of Black and Blue on the horizon Knox spoke with Alonzo in 2017 and decided a Recording Label was the right direction for St. Louis Blues Music.

Knox's combination of deep-rooted talent and reverence for real blues first caught the attention of Phat Buddha Productions cofounder Michael Landau several years ago when Knox was performing at a blues club in the city. Landau saw what most audiences see when Marquise Knox plays – the future of the blues.
Now after years of collaborating on various events and recording projects, Landau's dream of writing a new chapter in the history of blues music in St. Louis with Marquise Knox has become a reality.
"We're shooting for a Grammy," says Landau. "Marquise Knox is one of the best blues musicians on the planet. There is no reason we can't take him to the top. Phat Buddha Productions is a world-class recording studio and media company with all the resources to bring this vision to life."
