With 14 full-orchestra concerts scheduled within Phoenix city limits over 12 months, Scottsdale Philharmonic has doubled its annual concert schedule, expanded its roster of musicians, and introduced year-round programming.

PHOENIX - eMusicWire -- Scottsdale Philharmonic (https://scottsdalephilharmonic.com/) is now positioned as Phoenix's most active symphony orchestra, presenting 14 annual concerts within city limits. Its growth follows The Phoenix Symphony's suspension of performances and unpaid layoffs affecting 66 musicians.

Over the past year, more than 160 performers have taken the stage, with over 13,000 tickets sold or distributed across 12 concerts.

Now performing at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church in Phoenix, Scottsdale Philharmonic receives funding from the City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture.

"Our hearts go out to the musicians, staff, and everyone who has supported The Phoenix Symphony over the years," said Executive Director Joy Partridge. "Phoenix has a remarkable community of musicians and music lovers, and this is a tremendous loss for our city. We believe it is more important than ever to come together, support the arts, and ensure that live symphonic music continues to be part of our community."

A Growing Orchestra and a New Chapter for Its Musicians

The expansion includes summer performances and the August 2026 debut of Scottsdale Philharmonic Chorale.

Founded as a volunteer orchestra, Scottsdale Philharmonic now compensates a significant portion of its musicians, with full compensation anticipated in early 2027.

"We've doubled our concert schedule, expanded into year-round performances, and are making meaningful progress toward compensating every musician on our stage," Partridge said.

Upcoming Concerts and Holiday Performances

Concerts on November 12 and 15, led by Principal Conductor Vanja Gjumar Nikolovski, feature Mozart's Symphony No. 40, Alfvén's Swedish Rhapsody No. 1, Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto No. 2 with QingQing Ye, and Puccini's O mio babbino caro with Jennifer Sheldon.

Christmas concerts follow December 17 and 20, featuring Yamaha Artist Vitaly Serebriakov and Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Bringing the Symphony to More People

Sunday concerts are livestreamed worldwide for free, with over 230 recordings available online. Outreach includes schools, retirement communities, and care facilities.

"We never want the cost of a ticket, someone's age, or their ability to travel to determine whether they can experience the power of a live orchestra," Partridge added.
